The Polymath
Was digging around for a recipe for Christmas and got out my trusty, handy-dandy "Calling All Cooks" cookbook...the original yellow-cover. Everyone I know....aunts, cousins, uncles, friends has one of these. They were published in the 80's and were wildly popular down here. (Alabama) I was wondering if you had ever heard of them (I think there were 4 or 5 volumes eventually...I have the first 2, the yellow and red editions) or if they were a localized phenomenon? The recipes are probably a little low-brow compared to what you usually cook/bake (there is A LOT of Velveeta and cream of mushroom soup in this book).

I will do my best in retyping...First, thanks for the guest post of Dana Bate as I have already devoured it and enjoyed it. Having been to DC a number of times, the locations were relatable...now, to get some of those delectable baked good from the Wild Yeast Bakery! Second, as to why you and CS should place in the walls for a future finder of your abode (Nice idea by the way) I thought simple...a pencil with your name and CS name on it. Even with all the technology advances we often come back to the simple, which is a pencil and it represents you at the most granular level. Also, a bottle of wine with a cork which would have both your initials on it as well as the label which would have some symbolism related and representative of you both. Who wouldn't love to find a lovely mysterious bottle of wine in the walls of their home....sound almost like a plot line for a book. Hope you enjoyed your holidays and I look forward to more posts on your home goings on along with your next book! Best always!
